Rodney Hunt founded in 1840 by Mr. Rodney Hunt, the company's earliest products were plows, simple wooden machines, and the wooden water wheels and gates used in New England's textile mills.

Surviving a major flood in 1936 and hurricane in 1938, the company grew significantly over the next decade, in part due to the increased demand for textile machinery and equipment during and after World War II. Rodney Hunt txtile wet-finishing machines supplied an internation market during this period, and Rodney Hunt sluice gates and other water control equipment were building a significant doemestic market throughout the United States.

The stratiegic decision to focus on the design and manufacture of products serving the growing water control industry lead to the sale of the textile wet-finishing division in 1975, and the industrial roll division in 1983. In 1991, Rodney Hunt Company purchased AC Valve, Inc. and expanded its comprehensive gate and valve product offering for water control applications.

In 1995, Rodney Hunt Company merged operations with GA Industries, combining the engineering and manufacturing resources of both companies. Together, they now offer the most complete flow control package in the world for both open-channel and closed-conduit applications.
